Friday's read

(c/o Amazon)

I am being such a deadbeat blogger. I haven't posted in quite awhile nor have I shot any decent daily outfit photos. Perhaps the next time I'm out with a few pals.

Meanwhile, I'd chanced upon this book from the local Booksale shop. A bit lucky really since it was quite something at 40 Php. I'd thought this would be a good read and it turns out, it certainly is. And as I'm still at the introduction part, I'll just say I think I'm in for a good ride with this one. Apparently, it tackles a great deal of history on how fashion came to be. It focused mainly on everything French.

Hmn...might I just say? It's for other matters other than fashion anyway. I'd watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 twice this week. The first time was with my younger brother. The second was just earlier today with a good friend. I'd ended up doing random shopping, too, wherein I'd hoarded opaque tights. Just two pairs of them anyway.

Right. Have a happy weekend!

fools' garden

(photos courtesy of Jan Michelle)

This was the time for a good bottle of sweet, strawberry red wine (shared between me, Candice and JM), a can of beer (I missed it. Kind of.), one huge pizza, cake (I'd been craving over and over for this), and friends and fun. Basically a Halloween-themed double birthday bash for Yoojin and Candice whose birthdays had just passed. Celebrated during Candice's day.

Since it was Halloween-themed, costumes were to be hand. It's my first time donning one, too. I didn't have a very colorful childhood with trick or treating and dressing up during Halloween but I was happy to have the time to dress up on this one all-girls' gathering. Ended up going as a garden nymph(-o) of some sort. A running joke between us girls. The wreath took me a few minutes of talking to make the day before using craft wires and a bunch of flowers surprisingly made of crepe paper. And if you're wondering about the crowns, all four of us---JM, Yoojin, Candice and me---had them bought from Hannah's all for the party. They were fun to wear around as much as my floral wreath.

Probably one of the funnest days I'd had since graduating from college. Shoots were mandatory, of course hence all these.

More randomness? I kind of love the photos of us fooling around. Me and my YM-mate, Candice and of course, Yoojin who's about to depart soon to work in Korea. It was fun we'd had this. And here's to having more fun, girls!

Hmn...right now? I'm going back to rereading Harry Potter's 7th book. I'm an HP junkie and the next movie's coming on the 19th! Or 20th, RP time. Totally Ron Weasley-biased. He's a favorite. It's a rather lazy Sunday today.

homage to the homeland

Before I sentence myself to tonight's work, I'm posting a bit on some local designers, local stores. I've found a few from The Mall over at Stylebible that could capture the me in it and this is what results. I can actually see a lot of things going on with these pieces.

The sheer dress actually reminds me of the skater-ish, 70s mini dresses I'd been crazy for recently. The details on the front makes me want to get it and actually wear it around in random parties. Meanwhile the smock dress is going to die being worn around during the day. I'm quite a fan of flowy fabric. (The shoes is a favorite, I just might have to get it...might. I'm currently on the fence on this.)Now...to get them? Or not to get them?

Local labels actually have a few good things on them...
